Teaching My First Modern Calligraphy Workshop

Last Thursday, I hosted my very first Beginner Modern Calligraphy Workshop at the Bradford, a beautiful wedding venue located just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. To say the experience was amazing is quite an understatement! My heart was so full and I loved every moment!

Teaching a calligraphy workshop has been on my business bucket list for well over a year now, and I am so happy to have finally hosted my first one! Having never been a fan of public speaking, I instantly felt in my element talking about what I love and sharing that excitement and passion with others.

The venue was gorgeous. Bailey from The Bradford went above and beyond as a host and even had champagne for the students to sip on. The room we used was filled with natural light and I also got to use beautiful chairs rented from Cottage Luxe. It made for such a happy and inspiring space!

I was so thrilled to have 8 students attend and I couldn't have asked for a better first group. I really appreciated their excitement and eagerness to learn. It was so fulfilling to see their progress and improvements throughout the two hours we spent together. They loved the fact that they had a lot of one-on-one attention and that they were able to take their supplies home with them. I learned so much about teaching through this experience – including how to teach lefty's calligraphy (I had 2 in my group and they ROCKED it!).

One of the students was my mom, who drove 2 hours to help me set up, tear down, and to just be there for support. She is amazing! She also hand-stitched my logo on this banner quilt. How beautiful is this?!

I am so incredibly proud of my students, and of myself for finally taking the leap and doing something I've been dreaming about for quite some time. I definitely have plans to teach more! If you want to be the first to find out the dates of future workshops, be sure to visit my workshops page and sign up for my newsletter. I look forward to sharing my passion for modern calligraphy with many others in the future!
