4 Reasons Why You Should Include a Map with Your Wedding Invitation Suite

I have a huge passion for telling love stories through custom wedding invitations, and even more so through custom illustrated maps! I jump for JOY when I get the opportunity to combine the two. I've gotten asked recently why should someone include a map with their wedding invitations? Well, I've gathered my top 4 reasons for you today. Read them below!

1. To illustrate where the wedding weekend events will take place.
   Include locations such as the hotel where you have a room block reserved, the location of your rehearsal dinner, your wedding and reception locations (of course!), and if you are having a day after brunch, you could include that as well! Or you could even include the airport. This gives your guests a fun visual reference that they can bring with them on the wedding weekend.

2. To suggest things to do in the area for your out of town guests.
   Having a destination wedding where most of your guests will be traveling to? Another reason why you should include a map in your invitation suite is to let your out of town guests know about things to do in the area. Maybe there is a cozy coffee shop & bakery, or a scenic hiking trail, or a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that's famous for their fish tacos. Get your guests excited about the city they are going to visit by providing them an illustrated map of things they can do over the weekend so they can start planning their adventures ASAP :)

3. To illustrate your love story for your guests.
   The awesome thing about including illustrated maps with your invitation suite is that you can display it after your wedding day, so why not include personal tidbits from your love story? For example, you could include the location of where you met, your first date, where he proposed, etc. This further illustrates your love story to your guests who may not be too familiar with these sweet details (AKA - distant Great Aunt Betty), and this allows your guests to feel better connected to you as a couple.

4. To add a personable and fun paper detail that guests will be sure to remember!
   Last but not least, this is the reason that encompasses them all: to give your guests something to remember. I have had several brides tell me that their guests absolutely LOVED the map in their invitation suite. Why do guests love maps so much? Because it's an unexpected whimsical detail that exudes personality and FUN!
